“New Year, New Hope” Kite Tribute

Step in to the new year with unity, hope, and a recognition of the resilience of the Palestinian people. Inspired by the writings of beloved intellectual and martyr, Dr. Refaat Alareer, join us for an afternoon of solidarity and community the whole family can participate in.

Our kite tribute will feature kite flying, poetry, Palestinian music, an art installation, and an interfaith vigil. Local vendors will also have food and Palestinian goods for purchase, with a portion of proceeds going to organizations providing relief in Gaza.

The kite tribute will take place on January 20th at the Arab American Cultural Community Center from 2-6 pm. Our sponsor is the ACC, and our collaborators are the Palestinian Youth Movement, Jewish Voice for Peace Houston, Rice Students for Justice in Palestine, the Palestinian American Cultural Center of Houston, the Egyptian American Society of Houston, the American Muslim Women’s Circle, the Pro Humanity Network, and GenerAction Jam.
